Winning in chess is about the players. If we can keep them focused, motivated and positive, they bring in better results.
The pressure of tournaments do not only affect the players. They affect everyone else there too. In this immense emotional cauldron some people become besides themselves and do and say things that can affect players morale.
We had our share during Mal/Singapore. There were a couple of incidences which could have deflated the morale of the players. In one stroke they can undo the good work of many and the results could easily have been very different.
I hope we can reflect on this and make better effort to contain negative outbursts in the future. If each do their part and remain mindful of the players then we can have better results in the future.
