Today's Contemplation.

The purpose of therapy is not to remove suffering but TO MOVE THROUGH IT to an enlarged consciousness that can sustain the polarity of painful opposites.

SEA games. Standard Chess.

It's Jimmy and Camelia that will carry our flag. Wishing both of them an indomitable fighting spirit.

Today's Contemplation.

If I had to select one quality, one personal characteristic that I regard as being most highly correlated with success, whatever the field, I would pick the trait of persistence. Determination. The will to endure to the end, to get knocked down seventy times and get up off the floor saying, 'Here comes number seventy-one'!

The Haven

Hi guys,

On the 1. 11. 2011, I joined The Haven as Business Development Advisor. We beat Singapore for the first time in 10 years on 1.1. 2011. I hope these are auspicious dates and we all go from strength to strength.

Wishing our SEA games team all the best. I was very impressed with Yee Weng and Najiha. I hope all our players will fight all the way. Here.

I will have to reduce my time on this blog. It has been quite a journey. But we have selection now. A hard fought victory for Malaysian Chess. I want to thank all those that contributed to this step forward.

Today's Contemplation.

If in the darkness of ignorance, you don't recognize a persons true nature, look to see whom he has chosen for his leader.

Today's Contemplation.

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all of the barriers within yourself that you have built against it. It is not necessary to seek for what is true but it is necessary to seek for what is false.

Things are as they are.

Ref: Here.

The author in the link above says that all things work to our advantage. Here is an alternative view and I think it's one that is closer to the truth and reality. Things are as they are. What does this mean?

This means that events will conspire to keep bringing to you the same lesson that you need to learn until you learn it. If you did not succeed in one endeavour because of some lacking, you will face the same problem again in another endeavour. If you lose one tournament because of some lacking, you will lose another tournament for a similar reason.

This will keep happening until you learn the lesson you are meant to learn. God in action?

You will stay in the same drama until you learn. When you do, you move on and then you will be brought another lesson until you learn that too? Growth.

Ergo, it is only advantageous if you learn. Otherwise you will just repeat the same mistake again and again.

Look into yourself, look at the evidence. That author is just trying to comfort himself. Another way of looking at it is just escapism; running from reality. So find out what is blocking you, resolve it and move on. Stop saying all things are to your advantage just to comfort yourself because you refuse the lesson.

An appeal from our puteri.

Here.

It is a heavy financial burden for the parents to support their kids to carry our flag. Any help will lighten the load. So anyone out there willing to give a hand?

Tin cup

I watched a movie on mental coaching on my way to KL by train recently. The movie is called "Tin Cup" with Kevin Costner in it. The movie brings up many aspects of mental coaching. Too many to discuss here. But essentially it shows the journey of a technically proficient golfer who kept sabotaging himself with bad attitude and a negative mindset.

Do try to see if you can get your hands on the movie. Decide for yourself if there are any parallels to chess. All my best in your chess journey.

A chain of events?

Our U16 boys did really well at World Youth and made us all proud. Was it an isolated event that came out of a vacuum? Or is it like the waves of energy caused by a pebble thrown into a pool of water that is transmitted from an epicentre?

This is my perspective. A series of events took place in Singapore that culminated in us winning the Mal/Sing match for the first time in 10 years on the 1st Jan 2011.

This energy lead to a conversation on the train ride back that started the whole process of asking for selection for the SEA games. Question? Do you think that conversation would have taken place if we had lost?

This conversation also lead to an agreement among some bloggers to support the call on their blogs.

The selection lead to the breaking of some myths and gave hope to players being given a chance to represent the Country if they continue to improve.

Do you think this energy rubbed off on some of the juniors? Can anyone remember a Malaysian Team that fought this hard against Teams that were "supposed" to be higher ranked?

And so I hope there is a small lesson here. If it is to be, its up to me. Dont wait for someone else to start the ball rolling. Do what you can, wherever you are. It all counts. You can be the epicentre of your own waves.

We need success to re-energise us. Many small waves can become a tsunami in time.

World Youth Final result.
