What happens if you are a chess prodigy in Malaysia and you are not rich?

Ref: Here.

It looks like you may have a chance in Uganda. What about in Malaysia? Who would be responsible to take care of our chess talent?

Even if you can afford it by your own means and try to remain independent, you are victimised.

What about if you cannot afford the cost of development to International standards? Who do you think should be responsible? Even if an independent organisation tries to help and still remain independent, the company is sabotaged.

But they all love chess don't they? Who are they trying to kid? They are even trying to reverse selection.

  3. One of the problems I see happening now with the juniors is that MCF is reluctant to give the letter of offer to play at International events even if you are entitled to represent based on the selection criteria for NAG or National Junior. The reason I was given is that they don't want players going around and asking for sponsorship. That is of course not right. Those that cannot afford but are eligible need that letter of offer to get sponsorship.

  4. There is one big danger that we must also be aware of. I believe the motive for not giving out that letter unless you demand for it is that they want the money to go to MCF. And that is a trap. I have been told that money that goes for a certain player as sponsorship have been taken by MCF is the past. So it is not safe for sponsorship money to be paid into MCF accounts. We again saw this with the money from Asian amateur. This is very alarming.
