Patience

I got into a discussion with Ignatius and someone who works with Fide in Subic Bay and the discussion went to talking about patience. This guy, Geoff, says his problem is with patience and he asked me what I thought about it.

I said that it's easier to have patience if you know how things work.... If you know deeply that you cannot change something before its time; you cannot change someone ever and that someone cannot change till he/she is ready.

You cannot change something by force. It just buries itself and come back again at another time.

Actually you can see this in chess too. You cannot attack till the opportunity presents itself. The conditions must be right.

So trying to white knuckle patience without understanding will only work for a while. As the pressure builds the patience will go. From understanding your capacity for patience is greater.
