Part 2 of lies, deflection and fraud by "no shame".
Here.
It is obvious that after so many years of free entries despite playing crap chess, that Jimmy is pissed with MCF now that he has been denied once. He is just a sour grape because he can no longer tell us who can play and who can't play for Malaysia today. And probably he is not part of the "sub contracting" work too.
But still it is revealing if you read carefully. He is merely describing in detail what has been ailing Malaysian chess.
I am not going to bother with his cheap justifications on why a piece of deadwood should still be playing for Malaysia. That is a waste of time. Those opportunities should simply be given to develop the current squad. The real chess players.
So lets focus on the other revelations. Jimmy claims that Myammar chess was "sub contracted" out. Lets consider this. This may be a good idea only under this condition. That MCF has the equivalent of the Auditor General that knows how to audit projects. That due process has been followed. That the money has not been transferred to hidden accounts as were the past accusations levied against MCF.
Actually I have spoken to an auditor of MCF recently. He told me that there are no audits. And personally I don't think he knows how to conduct one even if there was. And that was probably why he was selected as auditor of MCF in the first place.
So again MCF has left themselves wide open to an investigation into fraud and corruption. MCF, I suggest you do something before it is taken out of your hands. Clean out your own house.
Part 1. Here.
Now we know how we can represent the Country for the senior squad.
Talk to Greg.
Right from the horses mouth. From the man who has represented our Country for the Olympiads etc without selection.
Of course they don't mind a proper selection for NAG or Juniors. After all the parents pay for those. In fact the more the merrier. More benefits to the officials.
But when it comes to the senior squad, when the Country pays, it's talk to Greg. He can fix the selection criteria so you can have easy or free entry. And even if you can't make the very easy entry you can still talk to Greg. Maybe if you butter him enough, you still get to play transfer chess.
But that is the route.
Now parents, is this a fair deal for you? After all your years of investing in your child's chess, it boils down to talk to Greg when they come of age. Is that not corruption? And how many deals can Greg offer? How many places are available for side deals?
So why even bother to have selection for the senior squad at all? Why not we all stop learning about chess and all of us just talk to Greg?
Now, MCF, I was just wondering if this case may perhaps warrant an enquiry? What do you think? Do you need something bigger than subverting and defrauding the entire chess community before you take action? Is there even anything more serious than this? Hmmmmm....

Have we missed a golden opportunity to promote Malaysian chess?
I just finished watching the news where they report the medal tally for Malaysia in SEA games. Free promotions on TV. I can think of nothing better to bring fresh interest back to our sport than by winning medals there.
So this is what I can't figure out. MCF was chartered to promote and develop International chess in Malaysia. What I am told is that from the moment we knew about SEA games about 2 years back, we started an intensive program for the players who didn't make the cut in International chess to start training in Myammar chess.
Why Myammar chess? Why not have the same intensity for International chess?
And then sadly I see on facebook from people who should know better saying that they hope we will come back with a Gold medal. Correct me if I am wrong but I too would hope for a medal if I know our players have been well trained and prepared. Then I am not above saying a silent prayer hoping that we have got our training right. That we are prepared. That we have a fighting chance.
So very honestly I found it hard to add my cheer on facebook. Instead I have this sinking feeling that we are going to get thrashed again.
What is so wrong with MCF that they don't even really try? Have they no confidence in our players? Have they no confidence with themselves? Do they know deep down inside that we have too many weak players because we did not do a proper selection to find our fighters?
Then why not change our selection criteria to get rid the deadwoods? Ref: Here.
Why is it that they only know how to move the goal posts so that their cronies stay in? Is this all that they really care about? Here.

The million dollar question. Who is responsible in MCF?
Here we have an opinion from MACC. Here.
But just who is responsible in MCF? Surely they cannot have a bigger problem then what MACC has right? And chess players are our touted thinkers. Are we not supposed to be helping to develop the next generation of Malaysian thinkers? So if they are lead by people who cannot find solutions to little problems within a very small community like ours then what are we teaching our players by example, I wonder?
Boggles the mind, doesn't it?
We need the cooperation of MCF before Malaysian chess can progress.
See here for the list of participants of Indonesian Open. Here.
Do you see any Malaysian participation below 2200?
This is the story. During Malaysian Open, I asked an MCF official if our players will be playing at the Indonesian Open. I was informed that the bar was set at 2200 and that we would need the intervention of MCF to request for a waiver for our players. I was then informed that MCF was writing in for our National squad. So I wrote in to MCF to request that they include Mark's name and that I would not need any sponsorship and will pay for our own way.
I did not expect any financial assistance since Mark is not in the senior National squad this year and Malaysia does not lose out in any way if we funded ourselves to go for the exposure. I was later informed that the Indonesian Federation did not give MCF any reply. Presumably they were not willing to compromise on the standards set. Fair enough.
(However I do contrast the attitude of MCF versus the attitude of the Philippines Federation. Their Federation worked hard to send their players to Indonesia Open with sponsorships etc.)
Ok. That is them. But here it seems that even if we were to pay for ourselves we get no support.
Now the big question is, how come one of our 1900 plus player (player no.108) get to play there when our Federation cannot even get us in officially? Isn't there something terribly wrong here? I hope MCF will conduct an investigation into what went so wrong that our players have missed the chance for the exposure at this event.
How, oh how, are we then going to get our own GM when our officials are sleeping in the drivers seat? You see the problem? Is it our National aspiration just to be jaguh kampung?

Can a State be banned by the President of MCF for following due process?
The States are the source of all authority vested in MCF. And the States themselves get that authority from their member chess clubs which is populated by the players.
So does the President have carte blanche powers? Can he exercise authority beyond what is mandated to him? All he has is casting vote in case of a tie at Council deliberations. It says so in the Constitution. He cannot even bring in appointed Council members without the approval of the elected Council. That is also stated in the Constitution if anybody cares to read it.
There is a due process of appeals if any member within the structure feels that they have been unfairly treated. And both the chess clubs and the State Affiliates can appeal to COS within the law. Can they be banned for that? For following the law?
There were the questions I raised about unconstitutional sackings, about banning without grounds all those years ago. About using the authority vested in MCF to sabotage the training of the Juniors by a GM before International representation. About sabotaging thematics organised by a private entity outside of MCF. It's all the same thing. It is about the abuse of power to serve select vested interests.
A good anology is you being arrested and banned after going to the police to report a crime because they don't want you to tell anyone that a crime has been committed. If you do that then they cannot get more unsuspecting victims. If there is nothing to hide it would be a very different story would it not?
Can you now see how Malaysian chess has been sabotaged for all these years? Strong players sidelined, threatened and attacked so they do not dare to protest according to the law. Honest officials sacked without due process so that they can continue to abuse without resistance.
They are afraid of the truth and of the implementation of the law.
So let me remind you again. There is nothing wrong with our players. They are extremely talented and gifted and we have the resources to develop a GM. But there is something very seriously wrong with the way we are governed by MCF. Can we change this? Is the COS not mandated to oversee the development of Malaysian sports?
Isn't 30 plus years of failure enough wasted time? Lets continue to support those people inside and outside of MCF struggling to bring positive change to Malaysian chess. Let us not allow those very few fellas to take us back into the dark ages. Lets choose a side. Let us choose right over wrong.
Make no mistake. The small gains we have had recently have been hard fought to gain and a heavy price paid. But it can very easily be reversed if we become complacent.

Is Ismail Ahmad disqualified? How can this happen?
Ref: Here.
I was informed on facebook that Ismail Ahmad has been disqualified on the grounds of age. I just couldn't believe the news and so went to chess results to check. How oh how can this happen? What an embarrassment to the Country. The thought that comes to my mind is that we need to learn the rules and apply it fairly. Can it be that we are so out of synch with the rest of the world because we view rules differently?
Whatever it is we need to get this solved or Malaysian chess will not be able to progress. MCF, over to you. How do you intend to solve this so it can never ever happen again?
