Reflection.

At Selangor Open, a prominent chess figure spoke to me about Asean. I said we only have a team for U20. He said the U20 have no chance. In fact Malaysians do not do well after U12.

My thoughts. Yes, that appears to be the stats. Something happens after U12. So do we accept that stat or do we find out what the problem is and try to fix that?

  1. is that means that Malaysian U8,U10,U12,U14,U16 and U18 boys and girls will not represent malaysia for the ASEAN games?

  3. Our Under-12 and Under-14 were very strong during my time. We always beat Singapore in this groups in the annual matches.

  4. It seems to me that we have somehow taken a wrong turning somewhere. We need a good roadmap to find a way out of this maze.

  5. Yes... I agree with you raymond. The roadmap should be in place in oder to gain back the chess winning glory in Malaysia. So, at the same time, can make money as what you are doing for the ASEAN championship.

  6. Actually, we didnt make any money from the event. We didnt even cover costs. But the players are getting an excellent chance to train with GM Ziaur and at a much lower costs to them thanks to our sponsors. Would you be willing to do the same if you were able?

  8. Have you ever heard the saying, "if its to be, it's up to me? This stretching it too far isnt it? Blaming Datuk Tan. Almost all our neighbours are better than us now. Did he also say something to Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines? How about looking at ourselves. What did you do to make things better?
