A chain of events?

Our U16 boys did really well at World Youth and made us all proud. Was it an isolated event that came out of a vacuum? Or is it like the waves of energy caused by a pebble thrown into a pool of water that is transmitted from an epicentre?

This is my perspective. A series of events took place in Singapore that culminated in us winning the Mal/Sing match for the first time in 10 years on the 1st Jan 2011.

This energy lead to a conversation on the train ride back that started the whole process of asking for selection for the SEA games. Question? Do you think that conversation would have taken place if we had lost?

This conversation also lead to an agreement among some bloggers to support the call on their blogs.

The selection lead to the breaking of some myths and gave hope to players being given a chance to represent the Country if they continue to improve.

Do you think this energy rubbed off on some of the juniors? Can anyone remember a Malaysian Team that fought this hard against Teams that were "supposed" to be higher ranked?

And so I hope there is a small lesson here. If it is to be, its up to me. Dont wait for someone else to start the ball rolling. Do what you can, wherever you are. It all counts. You can be the epicentre of your own waves.

We need success to re-energise us. Many small waves can become a tsunami in time.
